FAQ

Is there a BBQ?
Yes. Propane is supplied.

Do I bring bedding?
Yes. You bring your own sheets, pillow cases, bathing towels, face cloths.

Can I drink the water?
Please bring your own bottled water for drinking.

Can we have a campfire?
Camp fires are allowed as long as the MNR does not have a fire ban on for the area.

Is there a coffeemaker?
Yes there are perculators that go on the stovetop. Please leave your electric coffee makers at home. We are solar powered and if everybody plugs in an electric appliance, the system will shut down.

Is there indoor plumbing?
Yes. Each cottage has indoor bathroom facilites. For those who prefer, we also have outhouses.

What fish are in the lake?
This lake is stocked every 2 years with brook trout. It has perch and lake trout in it also. We have access to over 30 lakes, with all kinds of species available, within a short drive.

Do you rent boats?
Yes, we have boats and motors available for rent. You can choose between gas, or electric motors. Canoes and kayaks and a paddleboat are also free to use with your accommodation.

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome at Opimika, provided owners follow simple etiquette. Dogs must be leashed! You must pick up after your dog, and NO BARKING. Remember, not everyone will love your dog as much as you do, and other guests are also on vacation. It is important to be respectful.

Do you have live bait?
Minnows and other live bait are not allowed in the lakes. Worms are fine, but make sure you buy your bait before you get here. Sometimes we run out, and it is a long way to the bait store.

How do I pay?
Cash, Visa or Mastercard. We do not have a debit machine.

Is there wifi?
No, not yet. Is there mobile phone service?
Currently, some guests can get cell service at very specific spots around the camp, but not usually within the camp. It also depends on your carrier, and whether you are able to pick up service from other carriers. If you must have cell service, it will more than likely require a bit of a drive.

What is the nearest town, and how far away is it?
The nearest large town to Opimika is North Bay, which is close to an hour and 20 minutes away from the camp. We suggest you bring what you need for the duration of your stay, so you don’t have to do a long trip into town.
